under the Strategic Highway Research Program.
National Workshop on Sign Vandalism
March 16–17, 1999, Kansas City, MO
The workshop is designed for a range of personnel, including county
and city engineers, traffic operations and law enforcement staff, sign
materials vendors, and insurance company representatives. Sponsors include
the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT), Missouri DOT, Texas DOT, Washington
State DOT, American Traffic Safety Services Association, Federal Highway
Administration, and others.

Superpave Volumetric Mix Analysis Short Course

This workshop provides a basic understanding of the Superpave system,
as well as hands-on laboratory training.

Concrete Assessment and Rehabilitation Lead States Team Meeting

Superpave Binder Testing & Characterization Course
April 12–15, 1999, Reno, NV
The course will cover the Superpave binder testing and characterization
procedure in depth. Participants will have a chance to use the dynamic
shear rheometer, bending beam rheometer, rolling thin film oven, pressure
aging vessel, and Brookfield viscometer.

Fourth Annual Eastern Winter Road Maintenance Symposium and Equipment
Expo
September 8–9, 1999, Albany, NY
The symposium and accompanying equipment expo are targeted at winter
maintenance managers and other public works practitioners from cities,
townships, counties, and States east of the Mississippi River, as well
as staff from other public agencies and the private sector. The symposium
will cover such topics as snow and ice control, road weather information
systems, anti-icing techniques, and post-storm cleanup strategies. It is
being cohosted by the New York State Department of Transportation and the
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
