Get up to date on the latest work of the Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program by checking out the new LTPP 2002 Year in Review, now available on the Web at www.tfhrc.gov/pavement/ltpp/reports/2002yir.htm. The report outlines the LTPP program's 2002 accomplishments and provides an overview of key initiatives that the program will pursue this year. 2002 activities included developing a Seasonal Monitoring Program CD-ROM and a Resilient Modulus CD-ROM and continuing efforts to improve the quality and quantity of data in the LTPP database through such initiatives as the LTPP Specific Pavement Study Traffic Data Collection Pooled Fund Project. The LTPP program also completed several data analysis projects, including a review of LTPP layer thickness data. A new research guide resulting from this project will be published this fall. Plans for 2003 include introducing a new climatic database program known as Anytime Weather.

State highway agencies will have the opportunity to discuss their applica-
tions of FHWA's Highway Economic Requirements System-State version (HERS-ST) software and get answers to questions they may have at a HERS-ST Users Group meeting scheduled for July 24-25, 2003, in Chicago, Illinois. HERS-ST is a computer model used to evaluate the relationship between highway investment and system condition, performance, and user cost levels. The software simulates future highway condition and performance levels and identifies deficiencies using engineering principles. It then models the selection of improvements for implementation, relying on economic criteria.
